The Forest Park Public Library was awarded a $50,000 Live and Learn Construction Grant from the Illinois State Library. The grant will assist with the upcoming renovation slated to in the fall. “We are honored to have been awarded this grant and feel that it will be put to good use,” said Pilar Shaker, Library Director. “These funds will assist us in creating library spaces that are accessible for everyone.”
We will be entering Phase 2 of the renovation soon! This means most of the library services will move to the lower level. We will still have partial access to the main level. This will give staff and patrons access to most of the adult collection as well as the computers. All other service areas as well as sitting areas will be unavailable on the main level. We will set up temporary spaces for Patron Services, Young Adult Services, and Adult Services on the lower level.
The library will be closing for a couple of days during the transition between Phase 1 and 2 based on our Construction Manager’s advice. We don’t have a specific date set since it depends on when work is finished. However, we will let the community know as soon as we know. We anticipate it will happen in late October or early November.
